|Specialists in Vintage & Modern British & American Comics & Annuals|
We Buy Comics
Probably the question we are most often asked is: 'Do You Buy Comics?'
The answer is: 'Yes, of course.' As one of the leading specialists in the world for vintage British and American comics and annuals, we're always in the market for buying collections.
However, we are offered about 10-20 collections per day, and usually buy just one or two per week. It very much depends on what you have to offer. In two decades of trading, we've built up a considerable inventory of stock, as you can see in our website catalogue, so these days we're really looking to buy older and rarer vintage material and/or comics where there is a strong, proven demand.
So if, for example, you're trying to sell us a collection of American comics from 1980 to date, or a run of 2000 AD from #500 upwards, we're unlikely to be interested, since we have all the stock we need of this type of thing for the foreseeable future. If on the other hand you have the first ten issues of Fantastic Four or a run of Thriller Picture Library or Lady Penelope, we'd very much like to hear from you.

If you have something to sell you think we might want, in the first instance give us a call or send us a list with titles, issue numbers and approximate grades if possible. To be fair to you and ourselves, we probably won't be able to make a firm offer without viewing. Whether you've got one item to sell or several thousand, no collection is too big or too small if it's the right stuff. For significant collections, we'll travel to you to view.
Please bear in mind that anyone serious about buying your collection and paying a fair price is almost certainly going to want to see a list.
We believe that the prices we offer, particularly on rare or obscure items and/or items in high grade, to be very competitive with any other dealer.
We also offer great deals on trade-ins. If there's something in our catalogue you want, you may be able to trade it on very favourable terms for your unwanted vintage comics.
How much are my old comics worth?
And that's just about the second most popular question.
Free valuations of your comic collection are not something we can provide. Whilst we are usually able to give a few words of general advice regarding the relative values of comics, we can't enter into a detailed assessment of your collection. It's not possible to value a vintage comic accurately without seeing it (scans and/or photos are NOT enough) and since we're always busy grading and valuing comics in which we're dealing, we simply don't have time to value yours, unless it's a collection being offered to us for sale that we're interested in.
You can get a good general idea of the value of your vintage comics by looking at the retail prices shown in our website catalogue. The scope of our catalogue is huge and you're likely to find examples of most titles within.
Please bear in mind of course that someone buying your comics will offer you a percentage of the retail value. How much this is will depend on what you have to offer. Some items are slow to sell (our stock and sales plan allows for the fact that many comics will be in stock for up to five years or more) whilst others have buyers waiting. Obviously, we pay better rates for the latter.
So yes, if you have a Beano from the 1940s, you might be looking at the price of a nice night out for two if it's in nice nick, but if it's, say, a Batman comic from 1985, it won't get you a pint of beer.
For all advice on selling your comic collection, please don't hesitate to get in touch. We'll always give you a courteous and (hopefully) informative response. But if you're trying to sell a collection we're not interested in, the one thing we can't do is suggest where you might be able to sell it!
